Over the the course of history several things have changed. However, battleships have mostly stayed the same due to the technology and material that is put into manufacturing the vessel. A Battleship is a large reinforced warship with a main battery consisting of large caliber guns. Battleships were made for a plethora of reasons like defending the ocean, also to protect the safety of others. Battleships are made for different purposes and can be different sizes.. During the late 19th and early 20th century, variety of battleships became famous for being out on sea and for vital role they played in the battles they fought.

One area that seems to overlooked in history is battleships and how they have been useful. We have had a myriad of battles going back to the set down stories that have been told ner the 19th century. The Battleship, The Battle of Jutland, it took place between the British Grand Fleet and the German high seas fleet on May 31st to the morning of June 1st involving 100,000 men and 250 ships; 1916 the north sea for 12 hours off the mainland of Denmark (“Battle of Jutland”). The Germans lost fewer ships and men but the british claimed victory as Germany never again seriously challenged British control of the north sea during World War I (“Battle of Jutland”). In 1920 the Arizona begin to carry airplanes on board for scouting and spotting the fall of shells from the ship's guns (“Manchester”). On March 10, 1933 the Arizona was anchored at San Pedro where the Long Beach earthquake had struck. The ship had provided a shore that helped patrol the area, and set up first aid stations and provided food and shelter for those made homeless (“Manchester”). October 22, 1941 while conducting over exercise; the Arizona was struck on the port side. A V-shaped hole; four feet wide by twelve feet long. The Arizona was sent to Pearl Harbor to respire it. December 7, 1941 Japanese aircraft appeared in the air over Pearl Harbor just before 8:00 am on Sunday morning. Arizona was under attack almost immediately. A 800-kilogram bomb hit the Arizona. Within a few seconds power magazines exploded, gutting the forward part of the ship. More than 1,177 of the crew died on the Arizona
