The Authors aimed to examine in what ways people of different races categorized others in these different situations. They expected that differences sex would affect mate selection in their categorization and that race would have an effect on categorization in self-protection from physical threat. They found support for their hypotheses in that social categorizing is spurred by social motives and situations. They used the scientific method by first conferring previous research and then forming a hypothesis to run a specified experiment to reveal details not previously remarked. This study connects to my research and my question of in what ways race effects attraction in that although not directly relating to my topic it gives me some information on how race has an effect on how people naturally classify and categorize in different social situations such as mate selection and situations than ensue self
