My mother’s constantly failing businesses appeared only to be the start of our financial struggles. My family was evicted from our house and didn’t possess enough money to find a decent place to live. As a freshman, I attempted to escape my family’s financial problems by focusing on socializing with friends. The concept of animal life is fascinating. What do turtles eat? Why do plants need the sun to survive? How are humans related to chimps? My curiosity only increased as I got older and I decided to take biology class to explore further.
Through biology, I learned about amazing things like DNA, evolution, ecology, and cell biology. To expand upon my knowledge, I participated in interesting activities and experiments. I created different types of biomes using various types of soil, rocks, and all sorts of crawling critters and I even dissected a preserved sheep heart.
At first, I was totally creeped out, considering that the heart used to beat inside a living creature. However, as I studied and examined the different hollow chambers of the heart, feeling the smooth and ice cold texture intrigued me. These activities inspired me to delve deeper into animal biology.
