Prejudice reduction is a way of developing positive attitudes toward a variety of racial, ethnic and cultural groups by incorporating lessons and activities into lessons. Research shows that students come to school with negative attitudes and misconceptions about different groups, socially, racially and ethnically (Aboud, 2009. Stephan & Vogt, 2004). Lessons that include content about different racial and ethnic groups by incorporating positive images help students develop more positive attitudes toward multicultural education (Banks & Banks, 2013, p. 17). Educators should enable kids from diverse racial groups and genders to achieve highly. For example, a physics teacher would not just teach the content about women and African American physicists, but just change the way in which they teach, so that girls, boys, African Americans and all races can learn physics. Teachers should use a variety of different teaching styles and methods that use the different learning styles to teach to the cultural and ethnic groups as well. They implement materials and best practices that include important aspects of family and community within the cultures of their students. Basically, it is important for the teacher to modify their teaching style in order for it to reach all students of all races, ethnic groups, gender and social class. Educators examine and change the structure of the school to meet the needs of the culture of the students. Ways to unify the students is to group students, add participation in extracurricular activities and incorporate sports participation. Interaction between staff and students cross-cultural and ethnicity lines is important for the reformation of the school system. It is important for teachers and students themselves to be educated about each other’s cultures and also cultures of others unlike them. The school environment is a system consisting of a number of variables such as culture, policy, curriculum, and course of study. These factors may be the focus for the reformation of the system, but changes must take place for them to create a successful multicultural environment. The school as a social system must have these variables: school policies and politics, school culture and hidden curriculum, learning styles of the school, language and dialects of the school, community participation and input, counseling program, assessment and testing procedures, instructional materials, formalized curriculum and course of study, teaching styles and strategies, and school staff’s attitudes, perceptions, beliefs and actions (Banks & Banks, 2013, p.
