In the current day there are many companies that are fighting to keep their businesses in competition with other companies. Business strategies have evolved over the last 15 years. Companies that focused on selling one product have since evolved to a company that sells multiple different items. This has helped companies such as Amazon, and Netflix stay in business. Some companies have fallen do to the evolution and have become virtually unknown if not completely unknown. There are a lot of different strategies that are used to help businesses. A great example of this is when Coke started promoting diet coke over regular coke. They wanted to get the word out that they had a new product an knew that their current product was functioning correctly so they started promoting the diet version heavily in order for it to gain attention. Cannibalization however can be a wrong move depending on when/why you do it. For instance if you are just putting a new product out there just to do it, it could end up being a disaster. What if you make a new product to replace an older product that has loyal customers? (NG,2013) A perfect example of when cannibalization affects other products is when Samsung promotes the Galaxy Note product line instead of the Galaxy S series product line. What happens is people are more likely to buy the Note phones then the S series because it has been promoted as the better device. (Ng,2013) Recently Samsung has started putting both products in the same commercial so that they are shown as similar aside from the screen. They did this because they wanted both products to
