As seen in the film (Eaton, 2012) the sound of music stiches a room of strangers together. The ability to get lots in the tunes allowed sick children to experience happiness while in the hospital. The music took them back in time to a life less restricted. This allowed them to come to terms with current obstacles they were facing such as the inability to walk. The film (Eaton, 2012) allowed viewers to watch as one senior had the courage to walk while singing with her physical therapist.
In addition to personal growth made through exposure to music, the film (Eaton, 2012) highlighted growth experienced within a community. Creating music together provided a since of belonging to the members of the community. In tern this allowed individuals to understand where others were coming from, ultimately joining them as one group. This empowerment of belonging reminds individuals they are not alone.
