When there are no reproductive rights, there is no access to healthcare, unsafe motherhood, unsafe abortions that will more than likely lead to the woman’s cause of death, many deaths in women from unwanted pregnancies, and no help with fighting against sexual harassment. Due to complications of unsafe abortion, each year 47,000 women die from the procedure. (“Preventing,” 2008, para. 1). This supports the researcher’s view that removing reproductive rights will increase the danger of women’s health. Not only does this affect women’s physical health, but it also damages their mental health. Due to people judging so harshly and always looking down on women who decide to get an abortion, it can really hurt that woman’s mental stability. These people humiliate the woman who decides to get an abortion with their negative opinions and harsh judgement, which the researcher believes can lead to giving the woman anxiety or depression. The researcher supports that the abortion only affects the one getting the procedure; therefore, other people should not give their opinion since it is not their body nor choice. An additional article states, “The essential question is who should be empowered to make decisions about abortion” (Tracy, 2013, para. 1). These are fundamental rights all around the world because women need them in order to be safe and healthy before, during, and after pregnancy. Even if a woman chooses not to reproduce, they are all still human and deserve safety and reproductive health care. Women are human, which means they deserve their basic human rights. These basic human rights include reproductive and sexual rights. Women deserve to have a voice and the right to decide. Men can participate in the fight for reproductive rights as well. There are many actions men can take to engage in the support of reproductive rights. Some actions are attending protests that support these rights , understanding consent, and teaching consent to other men. Each and every person has their own moral and beliefs, but they need to understand that everyone is different and do not experience the same struggles as they do. People have to be understanding so they can support reproductive rights, even if it goes against what they believe. These people do not need to tell women what they can and cannot do because it is not their body, which means their opinion has no importance to women.
