One argument that is against gun reform is, “People kill people not guns”. This is a true statement a gun can not kill someone unless there is a shooter behind it. On the other hand, this statement can also be flipped for gun reform. If people kill people then how are these unfit citizens able to obtain guns legally. We live in a society that mental illnesses are extremely prevalent. We also live in a society that a mentally ill person can still obtain a firearm and enter a school or public place and mass murder a high number of individuals. Having people in the world with disorders such as mental illness it is important to have the appropriate rules and regulations to keep that individual and others safe. The time period we live in today is extremely different than the one the delegates who wrote the constitution lived in. I believe it is a right for the people to bear arms in the United States of America. The amendment should not be appealed because guns are still used today for countless reasons. However, I would say the second amendment should be looked at and revised more to fit our time period. For instance, restricting use of automatic and semi-automatic weapons, making more rules and regulations for obtaining firearms, and all of the states should have the same set laws when it comes to guns. That being said, there should be some revisions to the second amendment with some restrictions and laws to help keep our families, schools, and society
