According to a study that was conducted in 2013 by CNN, about 25% of the sunscreen that’s sold in today’s market can actually protect you from the damaging sun rays without using harmful and damaging chemicals. The other 75% contain very damaging ingredients that are toxic. Oxybenzone was approved by the FDA back in 1978 and is in half of the sun protection products on the market. This includes the lip balm variety as well. The FDA’s 2007 draft on sunscreen safety regulations clearly stated: “FDA is not aware of data demonstrating that sunscreen use alone helps prevent skin cancer.” The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) writes that “sunscreens shouldn’t be the first choice for skin cancer prevention and shouldn’t be used as the sole agent for protection against the sun.”
In conclusion, sunblock as protection from the sun’s radiation not only causes the same thing that it’s designed to protect against, but is linked to many more effects than the sun alone. I wouldn’t use sunblock unless you really do your research on each ingredient and understand the health
