E-cigarettes were created as an inhalable nicotine vapor by heating a liquid nicotine solution. The variety of these devices on the market are numerous and widespread but the basic parts of a typical device include a battery, a cartridge with nicotine and a heater that heats up or vaporizes the nicotine to be inhaled by the user. When activated the user puffs on the end of the device and creates a negative pressure and a battery powers the heater and creates vapor. That vapor in turn is collected into a chamber and is drawn out of the end of the device and inhaled into the lungs.
The first known E-cigarettes were invented by a pharmacist in China and since then China has been the Hub if you will for the manufacturing of these devices. Currently in the U.S. we have over 400 e-cigarette devices. The problem is that we do not have good evidence that people are quitting smoking completely by using e-cigarettes. Many will use e-cigarettes where smoking tobacco is not allowed such as bars and ball fields while still smoking tobacco at home or other times it is allowed. The only way to stop the effects of smoking is by stopping the act completely.
