It might seem that Antigone has a reversal of fortune. When Creon and his men go to free Antigone they see, “dark recesses of the tomb we found her… hanged by the neck in a fine linen noose”(1346-1347). Antigone decides to hang herself rather than to starve to death. Antigone just lost her life but Creon lost his whole family because of his decision. Antigone did not go through several pain like Creon did. Creon has to live with the guilt of killing his family. Also, some might say that Antigone has a flaw. Antigone who demonstrates stubbornness does not listen. Creon shows stubbornness because he does not listen to the warnings given by multiple people like his son and Tiresias. Not only does Creon not listen but because of his stubbornness makes him believe that he has intelligence and no one else does. When Creon demands desperately for death he says, “Wisdom is by far the greatest part of joy, and reverence toward the gods must be safeguarded….at long last those blows will teach us wisdom”(1466-1470).
