The patrician class consisted of families from descended senators whom were appointed during the period of the kings. They were wealthy, and followed an aristocratic government. On the otherhand there was the Plebeians who consisted of a larger group of independent, poor men. They were not large landowners, and less wealthy. Their jobs mainly consisted of small farmers, merchants, and artisans. Both parties could vote, but only the Patricians could be elected to office. The Plebeians withdrew from the state and couldn’t defend Rome, officials were given to them to protect them against arrest bt the patrician magistrates. There later became a council of the plebs becoming responsible of them. They were only for the Plebeians, and it gave them political leverage. They made the Twelve Tables of Law which gave them legal procedures for going too court, families, and intermarriage between the two. The Patrician’s realized they were at a disadvantage and took the right that they couldn’t be intermarried away. The division between the two dwindled.

The Romans borrowed their writing systems, literature, philosophy, religion and education from the Greeks. They had a large amount of Greek influence in their society. Their religion was a mix of the Greek and Roman gods creating a collective of the religion known as Greco-Roman religion. Roman’s literature was largely influenced by Greek models. They had playwrights and the bes known was Plautus, he used plots from Greek New Comedy. They created costumes similar to the Greeks for their plays. The Greek’s art played a major role in the development of Roman art. They gained artistic inspiration from Greek art.
