It provides individuals with hope and motivation that they can change things in their lives and make them better over time. Even if someone does not speak a particular language, by viewing this artwork they are still capable of understanding the movements and becoming inspired. In ?We Are Alpha V3? the camera that is being used is a digital SLR camera. The main technique that R.J uses in this piece of art is motion. He uses the flash to create a freeze motion. He can then go back and put the still imagine and the frozen image together to create a film like photo. This technique is important to further understanding R.J?s work in this particular photo because without the freeze motion the visual concept would be missing. the motion that is portrayed is not real motion. The motion is created through a freeze flash that makes it possible for the motion to seem continuous. The history of photography states that in order to create the motion there is a ?series of still images that are projected at a speed of twenty-four frames per second, which makes the action seem continuous? (Getlein, 2008). In history this is portrayed by Eadweard Muybridges photo titled, ?Horse Galloping.? Muybridges set up twenty-four cameras and snapped continuous shutters of photos to depict the motion of the horse and its feet placement (Getlein, 2008). Both R.J and Muybridges use the motion technique in their photography to depict the action that is occurring. In ?We Are Alpha V3? R.J does manipulate his piece of art. He adds extra shadows and special effects to enhance the photo and show a more detailed form of exercise. He also put the still and frozen image together, which almost overlap each other to show the motion of the picture. With that being said in this particular photo it does not seem that R.J is a practitioner of pure photography.
