The data does not tell us the specific time that these two campaigns sent mailings to each area. Could the results be due to the mailings being sent during different times of the year? How was the span of data collection recorded? It could be possible that one campaign collection was affected by the dates or times chosen to collect that data. Also, what was the difference in the mailings sent to Mailing D? The response rates are much higher for campaign 1 than campaign 2. This could be due to the mailing targeting the specific area but, it could be linked to something more. Campaign 1 could have been playing outside of the rules when it came to the area of Mailing D.
Conclusion
By looking at these campaign rates an interpretation of basic statistics has occurred. Campaign 1 has clearly out performed campaign 2 when it comes to comparing measures of central tendencies. Campaign 1 showed better average response rates. But, the large difference in response rates of these two campaigns raises many questions. Was the practices of each campaign performed within the rules? Reasons like this is why statistics is use when comparing data. Statistics helps to determine performance but, can also help to display unusual
