I am doing my practicum experience as an observer and not a teacher. My view of the classroom is an open structure class. There are four students in the classroom who are in a wheel chair, one student who has a severe mental disability. The classroom is a large open area with changing tables and handicap rails. In observation of the functional level of the students it is academically low incidence classroom. The student’s disability consist of Intellectual disability, orthopedic disability, and severe profound disability. The self-contained classroom consisted of a paraprofessional, a child specific, and a teacher who worked as a team to ensure every student is getting individual attention. In the course” Teaching Students with Intellectual Disability” chapter four, emphasize on partnering with educators.
