The American Revolution, Declaration of independence and many other important events and documents would not have been the same or might have not happened without the philosophers and their ideas and beliefs from the Enlightenment. There are many philosophies that influenced many important events and ideas during the 17th century and still impact America today. Some of these important philosophers who influenced the founding fathers of America, the American revolution and founding documents of the United States were John Locke, Thomas jefferson and Thomas Paine.

The Declaration of Independence is a written document stating the rights and freedoms of the colonist in the American Colonies but they are still rights to all Americans today. Jefferson shaped the Declaration of Independance by implying the ideas of basic human rights from inspiration from John Locke by adding in a very famous quote from the Declaration Of Independence that says "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights; that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness." John Locke inspired Jefferson to add this to the Declaration of Independence allowing many Americans to have the freedoms of living where and how they want. These ideas sprung out and is why people have the rights to be free, say what they want, express themselves and other basic rights people were not granted in the 17th century until the Revolution. These ideas are still standing strong today in America thanks to the Declaration of Independence and the ideas John Locke and Thomas jefferson. Thomas Jefferson not only was an author to the Declaration of independence but also became the third president of the United States. As president Jefferson with his knowledge and great leadership in running this country who knows where America would be today. He gained this role by motivating many American colonist to break free from great Britain and form a better and new nation and being a great and effective leader in the American revolution.
