The evolution of civil rights over the years has really integrated in improvement and equality. Many prize speakers made a better future for African Americans. On the 15th of September in 1895 The African American leader Booker T. Washington spoke out at the Cotton States and International Exposition in Atlanta. The speech Washington announced was called the “Atlanta Compromise”. The Atlanta Compromise basically argued that the new landscape of post Civil War was still not inviting and or comforting to people of African American origin. He preached that African Americans should be a part in the new movement. He wanted to see them more involved with their community such as working more on farms and finding more jobs. During this time being the late 1800s and early 1900s, African Americans were just getting used to the fact that they have more rights and opportunities. That didn’t stop the people of other nationalities from discriminating. Any way you look at it, socially, politically, economically, or even education wise, African Americans were blocked out of society. Booker T Washington just wanted for citizens to be united and all treated with justice and equality. Another major movement in the progression of African American Civil rights would be the Niagara Movement. Today, America is viewed from many different standpoints. America as a whole has became more equal and excepting of each other ever since 1965 and the end of the civil war. On November 4, 2008 for the first time in American history a African American president was elected. Obama was Americans 44th president; he was reelected for second term November 6th 2012. America as a whole is a country that is viewed very different varying from country-to-country. The culture everything from the food people eat to the languages they speak to the . The Western culture seems to be considered the main culture wide spread through out the United States; but since the country was once called a melting pot due to the fusion of many nationalities and cultures this could be debated. People seem to believe that there is an equal amount of rural, suburban and urban places located throughout the U.S.A. This has changed because way back way almost everything was viewed as country except for over populated states such as New York or California. Regardless the acceptance of same sex relationships and more diverse religion types are more acknowledged and considered “sane”. People can be themselves meaning their religion, and sexuality.
