Jay Gatsby, a hopeless romantic, values two things above all others—love (particularly his love for Daisy Buchanon) and money (which is what he plans on using to win Daisy’s heart) (Kersh 1). Fitzgerald uses the color green as a symbol for love and money as well as Gatsby’s ultimate goal—a reawakening that will erase his past and create a future for his relationship with Daisy. Fitzgerald associates green with life and growth (Colour 47), the life of Jay Gatsby and the growth of a love affair with his beloved Daisy Buchanon.…
Colorguard is the band's visual interpretation of the music being played through flags, rifles, sabers, and also through dance. I was able to be apart of this group in high school. The experiences I had are ones that are unforgettable .I formed a bond with the people within this group that cannot be broken. There are two seasons for the color guard, which is the marching season, and winter guard.…
The purpose of this lab is to determine the Ka of an indicator within an unknown solution. This can be determined because acid-base indicators are weak bases or acids, and when neutralized they change colors. The color change is measured by the light absorption spectra in the compound which can be used to calculate the concentration. This experiment measures the concentrations by the different pH values which allows the pKa and Ka to be determined. Through the experiment, and the recorded color change with the use of the Spec 20 the unknown Ka of the solution was found.…
The tables and chairs accent the shop well; the chairs are painted some kind of grayish green and the tables are a light brown. I believe the owners of the store had planned the color the way they did because they want people to feel at home and stay a while.…
The color guard became a part of the marching band in the late 1940s and 1950s. The rifles we use today in guard are replicas of the drill sergeants M1. Color Guard is a very fun activity that requires lots of skill and motivation, having a riffle, gloves, patience and dedication are very important. There are not many items needed to begin learning how to spin a rifle. The first thing is a rifle itself of coarse one of these is needed.…
When I first signed up for color guard, I was just following the lead of my older sister who was also doing it. Thinking this was going to be an easy experience I soon realized that it was nothing how I thought it was going to be. By experiencing the practices and how much time and effort goes into it gained a new respect for my sister for sticking with this because honestly, she was known for being lazy. After getting to feel this amazing feeling after my first performance, color guard also became a passion of mine. Color guard is can be found in most middle schools, high schools and universities.…
When I saw the flyer for color guard my eighth-grade year I was perplexed as it didn't specify what color guard was other than an exciting activity that lets you be apart of marching band. I was skeptical that I would actually like color guard but at the first clinic, I knew I had found a family and exciting activity to pursue. Watching the upperclassmen toss rifles, sabers, and flags with such ease and confidence made me excited to learn and achieve that level of confidence. This year will be my fourth year in marching band, I am still in Color Guard and it is easily one of the activities I’m most passionate about. My love to perform on the marching field takes away the anxiety I usually have, throughout the years my confidence has risen…
The mosaic Christ as the Good Shepherd c. 425-426 is a beautiful work of art. The reasons behind this work of art being not only beautiful but also overall a functional piece of art is the elements of the mosaic its self. To create unity and balance in a piece of art there are certain elements of design as well as the principle of design that need to be followed. In this image, there are numerous indications that it follows these guidelines. For example, there is a consistent color theme throughout the mosaic.…
J.D Salinger uses color within the book Catcher in the Rye to help him establish and bring out themes appropriately. Color is a good symbolic element in books because characters often go through many physical and emotional changes that color helps represent. In the entirety of the book, Holden is symbolized by many different colors because of his actions and emotions. J.D Salinger used the colors red, green, blue and yellow throughout the book to symbolize different events that took place. For example, Holden’s red hunting hat, shortly after getting out of the subway early in chapter 2, Holden sees a very strange looking hat in a sports store window.…
The change of colors that happens when entering the building changes your psychological mindset. When this happens your neurological brain functioning changed with the color scheme change. “We are products of our past, but we don't have to be prisoners of it,” states Rick Warren. Rick Warren is a pastor for Saddleback church, who is also the author of many books such as The Purpose of Driven life. Being prisoner to the past means being stuck on a terrifying or life changing experience that one is unable to let go of. Not letting that memory go traps one in an endless loop where everything is guided in their life to misery. Characters such as Cholly and Pauline are stuck in this loop.…
“Colour Bar” by Oodgeroo Noonuccal is an aboriginal poem from Australia. The author seems to be some sort of activist and poet because of the way she writes this poem. She is showing the resentment that she has for the Christians and anyone who is racist. She has very strong feelings about this, and it is somewhat inspiring. She is very opinionated.…

The color temperature varies from warm to cold. The warmness would act as the bright citrus colors of the cafe, while the coldness would act as the blue and dark purple sky. The psychology of colors varies in this painting as well. The cafe contains colors of happiness such as pale yellow, citron green, and sunkiss orange. These colors give the cafe a welcoming and vibrant vibe, which attracts people to stop in and enjoy themselves.…
Van Gogh uses color in a very deliberate and effective way in The Night Café. He selects the colors not based on his visual interpretation of the room but on the psychological and emotional effects it has on its occupants. He explains to his brother Theo, in a letter, that he uses the red and green in an attempt to express the terrible passions of human nature. The use of these colors helps to illustrate the intensity of the Café de la Gare and provoke the emotions of the viewer who may relate the bar scene to alcoholism or depression. He also balances the wooden browns and yellows of the lower half of the painting with a dark wooden clock adorned with a vibrant yellow face at the top of the painting.…
