In this society food are commonly categorized to correspond with caloric value. It is perceived that high calorie food have an effect of heavy weight gain while low calorie food is perceived to have a low weight gain. This can relate back to how the consumer may want to appeal to society. But also, the choice that the consumer may go for in the grocery store can depend on the health value of the product. In this society, unhealthy food can be viewed as pastries, fast foods, and other manufactured products. While healthy foods can be viewed as fruits and vegetables.
