Universities in general invest a lot of resources in recruiting large numbers of international students which in turn generate significant revenue for its coffers. American universities have a stake in making sure that the stream of foreign students coming to their shores do not go elsewhere. The list of ideas to improve the educational and social experiences of the international student body is quite inexhaustible, and its essential components have already been discussed. In order for these reforms to be carried through, it must be done with the written approval and calendar of implementation coming from the top of the leadership hierarchy. Instructors should be trained to provide a more inclusive curriculum, which focuses on providing support for students’ language needs, as well as instructional strategies that are effective for a diverse spectrum of cultural learners. Since most international students confront learning difficulties that typically stem from prior learning experiences and self-beliefs, students with low confidence and low efficacy are especially vulnerable. Wang Lin was excited by his acceptance into an MBA program, and without deliberating the possibility that his English would not suffice for such a competitive program of study, decided to attend. Nevertheless, he exhibited all of the outward patterns of behavior that upon closer examination, warrant a need to receive the menu of services that have been suggested hitherto. Hopefully, Wang Lin would not have to repeat this nightmare.
