Activity 1
1. Survey is a type of design is known more for the breadth of data collected than for the depth of its data.
2. Longitudinal is a major disadvantage of this design is the length of time needed for data collection.
3. Correlational is the main question is whether or not variables co-vary.
4. Ex- post facto words mean “after the fact”.
5. Cross -sectional eliminates the confounding variable of maturation.
6. Correlational quantifies the magnitude and direction of a relationship.
7. Longitudinal collects data from the same group at several points in time.
8. Survey can be surprisingly accurate if the sample is representative.
9. Cross sectional uses data from one point in time
10. Cross -sectional …show more content…
Also, less time -consuming and less expensive; thus, more manageable for the researcher is another advantage of Cross- Sectional.
The disadvantages of Cross- Sectional includes an alternative hypothesis could be the reason for the relationships. Another disadvantage is that the information obtained tends to be superficial. The researcher must know sampling techniques, questionnaire construction, interviewing, and data analysis is also the disadvantage of Cross- Sectional.
Ex post facto
The advantage of Ex post facto is that offers a higher level of control than a correlational study. The disadvantages of Ex post facto is that it does not allow one to draw a causal linkage between two variable. And it is an alternative hypothesis could be the reason for the relationships. Also, the researcher is unable to manipulate the variables of interest. Moreover, researcher unable to determine a causal relationship between variables owning the lack of manipulation, control and randomization. The information obtained tends to be superficial. Last, there is no randomization is sampling because the study involves only pre-existing …show more content…
This study examined the effect of burnout on nurses’ mental and physical health outcomes and job retention. Randomly selected Canadian nephrology nurses completed surveys consisting of the Maslach Burnout Inventory and the pressure Management Indicator. The nurses also completed questions related to job retention…The multivariate results demonstrated that almost 40% of mental health symptoms experienced by nephrology nurses could explained by burnout and 27.5% of physical symptoms could be explained by burnout (Harwood, Ridley, Wilson & Lacshinger, 2010). This is Meta-analysis types of design.
4. In order to examine the impact of caregiver overtime on the physical health of individuals providing information care for individuals with stroke, Salter, Zettler, Foley, and Teasell (2010) conducted a review of the published literature…Literature searches of three electronic databases were conducted for the years 1996-2008 to identify studies providing longitudinal data based on repeated quantitative assessment of physical health. Pooled analyses were conducted. This is longitudinal/prospective types of
