He mentions that reflection in an inherent part of action research (Norton, 2009, p. 28). Likewise, Burns establishes that action research “involves taking a self-reflective, critical, and systematic approach to exploring practitioners’ teaching context (Burns, 2010, p. 2). On these grounds, I can argue that action research is linked to qualitative research since the researcher is part of the inquiry process –due to the relevance of reflecting upon experiences. However, I consider that my idea of doing research address both major approaches –quantitative and qualitative approaches. There are elements that are shared amongst the approaches mentioned -such as statistics or narratives. Interestingly, Tomal provides that “an action researcher utilizes an appropriate intervention to collect and analyze data and to implement actions to address educational issues” (2003, p. 5). Collecting and analyzing data are fundamental processes within any qualitative or quantitative research.
