There are many other factors that are associated to drug addiction such as, ones genetics, their mental health status and family. When people are born they do not choose their genes. Genetics, mixed with differential environments play a major role to drug addiction (Hanson, Venturelli, & Fleckenstein, 2012). In today’s society, it said that genetics is a disease that runs in the family blood, which drug abuse and addiction acts like many other disease that are passed through genetics and certain people are faced with the increase risk of becoming an addict (The Genetic and Environmental Bases of Addiction, 2008). Even though genetics play a major part in addiction, a person’s environmental involvement also triggers a person who uses and become a drug addict and abuser. Using drugs has a major risk factor of passing infectious diseases such HIV by having sex that is unsafe and sharing of needles (Stanley J. Swierzewski, 2001). The risk factors and effects of drugs are all determined on how and what drug that is being abused. Drug addicts are more prone to drive and do illegal acts while under the influence of drugs.
