Often we take the small things in life for granted and only end up missing something or someone once they are gone. Turning a clock back won’t change things that have happened so instead of regretting the things you didn’t do, learn to value each moment as you live it. Tim said, “suddenly, time travel seems almost unnecessary, because every detail of life is so delightful,” from this point onwards I reflected on my decisions and came to the conclusion that I should stop wishing I had what other people have and start appreciating the things I do have. Most viewers feel inspired by what Tim says, as we often forget about the small things in life which are often more important, that we only realise we had something once it is gone. Sometimes it is better to live our lives the way we want to rather than the way someone else lives their life. When Tim said, “part one to happiness, was that I should just get on with ordinary life, living it day by day, like anyone else,” I felt empowered to look at my life with new eyes. It taught me and other viewers that living an ordinary life can often be more or just as special in its own unique way. It is often hard leaving the past behind as we feel like we are forgetting important events, but when we move forward, we simply let go of the things holding us back. When Tim lost his did to cancer, he said, “It was the toughest decision of my life, saying yes to the future and goodbye to my dad forever.” I can relate to Tim as I feel fearful of what my future holds and sometimes don’t feel comfortable leaving my worries behind. However, leaving the past in the past doesn’t mean I’ll forget, it simply means letting go of what is keeping me back from living my life and looking forward to my future. For many people, experiencing death is very traumatising, making people feel like they can’t go on anymore, and wanting to give up on their future. However, after watching this film, viewers feel more inspired to move on with their life and learn to value every moment spent as we can’t avoid, nor predict the future, but we can however live it. When Tim said, “as all families do, we got used to life after death and it was still fine and things settled back into their traditional rhythms season after season,” it taught us viewers that it is okay to let go as things somehow manage to fall back into place, not quote in the same way, but in a settling way. It teaches us that sometimes we are too scared to move forward from a crisis or when we are comfortable, but it is more important to learn
