The Crucible tells a story about horrid events that took place during the Salem Witch Trails. There many innocent lives lost and many people to blame for this tragedy. For instance, Hathorne and Danforth could be a fault for the deaths merely because the lack of sanity. why all the deaths occurred in the Salem witch trials. Although many people played a part in this fatal story, Abigail Williams plays the biggest role as to why all the tragic deaths occurred in the small village. She knew that because she blamed these people, they will either die or confess to practicing witchcraft. In Act III, Mary Warren testified against Abigail in the courtroom and said that the doll was hers and stuck a needle in it for safekeeping. Danforth told Abigail "A poppet were discovered in Mr. Proctor's house, stabbed by a needle. Mary Warren claims that you sat beside her in the court when she made it, and that you saw her make it and witnessed how she herself stuck her needle into it for safekeeping. Before Abigail went to court she said that a needle had stabbed her while she was at dinner and she believed it was Elizabeth Proctor's. This showed Abigail’s extreme selfishness by displaying how Abigail does not care about anyones well being but her own. Abigail adored all the power and attention she was receiving all because of the massive secret she was hiding.
