A Memorable Research Paper
There have been countless times where I have had to write specific papers for my classes, and I have done so nonchalantly without giving them much thought. I do recall the one time that my research paper from my Principles of Engineering class changed my outlook on not just my writing but also on my future. In my Principles of Engineering class, we were assigned to write a research paper on a branch of engineering that we found interesting and expand on it by expressing our motives for choosing that branch. Our paper had to be five pages long and include at least five resources in our works cited page and it had to be informative and directed towards our peers. I got started right away on what I thought was just another research paper when I realized I really had no idea what to write about.
I had never thought about which branch of engineering I wanted to go into until I did this research paper, as I had yet to realize that there existed different pathways within engineering. Since I had …show more content…
I mentioned that I had always enjoyed working with my dad in construction and that I could relate to this field more as opposed to all the other ones. I basically had to persuade everyone as to why mechanical engineering was the most interesting branch of engineering. This required me to tie in facts with my own feelings as just facts or feelings alone would not convince anyone. In order to convince my audience, I remember stating a fact that made me like engineering and then expressing my feelings towards that fact and how it made an impact on me. It is somewhat weird now that I look back at a research paper which had so much personal input when it should be just a paper containing a lot of facts that pertain to the subject at
