In “A Long Walk To Water” written by Linda Sue Park. There are two stories, one of a boy named Salva, and the other of a girl named Nya. They both lived in Southern Sudan; although at different times. Salva’s taking place in 1985, and Nya’s taking place in 2008. Salva and Nya’s life journeys both involved war, walking, and family. In the end their lives connected each other together in a beautiful way. Salva and Nya’s journeys are alike because they both had to deal with the consequences of war within their country. Salva’s journey started with a war between Sudan’s government and its people. Salva’s school was attacked and bombed, he escaped and had to run away from the fighting. Nya’s journey involved a long time fight between the Nuer and Dinka tribesmen. Even though Nya didn’t directly deal with war like Salva did, her village’s men including her father and brother did when they went out to hunt for food. There was always a chance they would run into the Nuer tribesmen which meant war. That’s how Salva and Nya dealt with war, they both had to fear losing their family. …show more content…
