When there is no hope people cannot reach their goals and their dreams will always be crushed by reality. When people do not have hope they do not achieve their dreams, instead they give up on the dreams. To prove this point the speaker of the poem states “Or does it explode?” (Source B). He again has made the point that his dream is unreachable and he has given up on trying. These two sources contrast because in Martin Luther King’s Speech he states things like “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character” (Source C). He has hope for things and he did achieve his goal but he needed that hope to achieve his dreams. Then Langston Hughes goes to show that when he says “Or fester like a sore—and then run” (Source B).
