In the begging of A Doll’s House, Nora and Torvald are shown as lovely and rich couple. Nora has a secret that she borrows money for saving Torvald when he gets sick by overworking. She thinks the debt is no worry, but old man Krogstad shows up and talks that he will blow up her secret to Torvald because his position was taken by Torvald. Nora was worried because Krogstad’s behavior would decrease Torvald reputation as a result of changing position like Krogstad. Nora is trying to hide the secret from Torvald, but he finally finds the secret and angers to Nora. However, Krogstad changes his mind and sends the debt paper to Torvald. Torvald is happy and forgives Nora, but she doesn’t forgive him because she thought he would know her effort.
