1926 – HSS visited 300,000 homes in major cities every year, treating illnesses like polio, burns, pneumonia, measles, tuberculosis, influenza, and tonsillitis.
1928 – FNS, under the Medical Routines guidelines, provided maternal and childbirth services to rural Kentucky areas independently.
Mid- 20th century: advanced medical progress led to more nurses work in the hospital with medical supervision. ANA clarified and defined the roles of nurses.
1955- ANA definition prohibited nurses from diagnosing and prescribing; thus, nurse’s previous autonomy was disrupted.
