However, it is important to first understand the term additional needs which means children who may need support for some reason, with disabilities or medical conditions or those needing reassurance because they are settling in a new setting/school. In addition, there are two reasons why children may need additional support and these are ‘biological and environmental factors.
Biological

It is also important to include children with additional needs in different activities that will help stimulate and build their confidence.
EYE 313WB 1.3 Analyse the impact of environmental factors on children’s development As we know that biological factors have the influence to impact children’s development, the environment also plays its role in the children’s development.
This includes children’s learning and development such as social aspects. As a practitioner I need to work closely and encourage children to develop their skills and reach their potential. EYE 313WB 1.4 Analyse the impact of the stage of development on children’s learning.
Having looked at the impacts of the stage of development on children’s learning, it is believed that if a child has a delay in one area of development, it is more likely that other areas of the child’s development will be impacted in their learning. Therefore, it is important for us practitioners to identify and recognise children’s additional needs at an early stage. Children’s learning and development may affect the stage of development they have reached and this will need to pass the milestone for example learning how to walk may occur at an early stage for some children, at 10 months while others between 12-16 months. Table 3.13.3 shows the effect of a development delay on children’s learning according to Penny Tassoni on page 350 As we have seen there are a many ways that would lead to children being effect with their development, therefore, it is important to be aware and understand how children develop physically, emotionally, socially etc. as this will help us
